Do Alcohol Wipes Kill COVID-19 and the Flu?

  • August 2, 2020

The WHO and CDC have some good articles showing that, YES, alcohol wipes do kill COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Flu, and many other viruses & bacteria in as little as 30 seconds, which is actually faster than most LIST-N disinfectant products. It's important to know and understand that the surface should be staying wet for at least 30 seconds while wiping your hands, phone, or other hard objects. With that being said, we suggest using our 75% Alcohol Germ Wipes™ and wiping for 30 seconds to make sure you are staying safe. Heavily soiled / overly dirty surfaces must be cleaned before they can be sanitizing.

Consumer Reports says:

Alcohol solutions with at least 70 percent alcohol are effective against the coronavirus on hard surfaces.

First, clean the surface with water and detergent [if dirty]. Apply the alcohol solution—do not dilute it—and let it sit on the surface for at least 30 seconds to disinfect. Alcohol is generally safe for all surfaces but can discolor some plastics.

You may be asking, why do I need a wipe and not just use hand sanitizer? Well, it's a great question! And you can find the answer in our next informative article: Why Are Wipes Better Than Hand Sanitizer?
